DFI Infinity 975X/G Back I/O & BIOS
The rear I/O panel is full of connectivity, there are legacy connectors like the pair of PS/2 ports and a Parallel port (also, there are two serial ports available via motherboard pin headers). Along with the legacy connectors, there are newer connectors like eSATA, Firewire, four USB 2.0 and Gigabit Ethernet. Onboard sound comes in the form of six 3.5mm jacks as well as optical and coaxial S/PDIF out - these are powered by Realtek's ALC882 codec.

BIOS

DFI uses a Phoenix AwardBIOS on the Infinity 975X/G. We used the 731 BIOS, dated 31/07/2006; this can be downloaded from DFI's home page.
  • Voltage adjustments: CPU VID Offset +12.5mV to 787.5mV in 12.5mV increments, CPU VTT 1.2V to 1.35V in 0.15V increments, Memory in 1.8V to 2.65V in 0.05V increments, northbridge chip in 1.6V to 1.75V in 0.05V increments.
  • Frequency adjustments: Easy OC (5-35%) or CPU clock (266-533MHz in 1MHz increments, PCI-Express clock (100-200MHz in 1MHz increments), CPU "Turbo" +1 to 31MHz and PCI-Express "Turbo" +1 to 15MHz in 1MHz increments,
  • Memory Timings:CAS, tRCD, tRP, tRAS, Memory Frequency, Refresh mode and ECC/Non-ECC selection.

The BIOS is pretty good when it comes to voltage adjustments - DFI gives you the option of putting up to 2.65V through your DDR2 memory modules. That's quite insane when you consider that the default voltage for DDR2 is 1.8V. However, with modules like the Corsair Dominator - that run with a rated voltage of 2.4V, the voltage is there to be used by enthusiasts and overclockers shooting for high clocks and tight memory timings. CPU voltage is also rather liberal too. In the case of memory timings you get a standard set of configuration options, but nothing more. Understandably, DFI didn't put as much effort into this BIOS as it does when it comes to providing the kitchen sink on its LANParty products.
